Introduction:

Hey Doves! My name is Tony Quill, and today we will start a long and epic journey. A journey to become a millionaire by the age of 30!

This is the first episode, and we’ll be planning to post a new episode every single week on Fridays, so be sure to subscribe to see if we’re getting closer or farther away from our goal every week!

I'll be getting my hands dirty and trying out different careers and side hustles myself! From freelancing, creating e-commerce websites, and doing magic shows to creating a venture startup, I'll take on various challenges to see what works and what doesn't. It's going to be a thrilling ride, and I can't wait to share it with all of you!

I'll also talk to people who have already achieved financial success in different fields. I'll be picking their brains, learning from their experiences, and getting valuable insights into how they made their millions.

Of course, this won't be an easy journey. I'll face obstacles and setbacks along the way, and I'll be sharing those moments with you too. But I'm determined to push through and learn from every experience to get closer to the goal of becoming a millionaire by 30.

As I reflect on my progress, I am grateful for the opportunities I have had, recognizing the many privileges I have had throughout my life, from having access to high-quality education to something as simple as being born in the US. However, I also acknowledge that despite these advantages, I will have to be resourceful and ambitious to achieve my goals.

So will we be able to achieve this goal? Let's take a moment to see where we are right now in our journey to becoming a millionaire by 30.

Right now, I’m 20 years old, meaning I have ten years to reach my goal. Specifically, this means I have 3,483 days left! Fun Fact If you started growing a bamboo plant, it would take this amount of time for it to reach maturity and grow flowers!

Let’s take a closer look at my numbers.

  • In my personal checking account, I have $5000

  • In my business account, I have $8000

In terms of my investments, I have

  • $6000 in a Fidelity Roth IRA

  • $16,454 in Robhinhood

  • $9000 in a 4% savings fund

  • $6000 in stocks

  • $700 bucks in Acorns

This means I have a total of $40,501.48 in the bank

Now, let's put that into perspective. My goal is to reach a million dollars by the time I'm 30, so I'm 4.05% of the way there. It may seem like a small percentage, but I'm excited about the progress I've made so far and the potential for growth in the future.

Many of you may be wondering, how did I get here in the first place? Getting my first $40K was not an easy task, so let’s break it down.

One of the biggest chunks of change I have earned is from my software engineering internship at HP Enterprise. Although I only worked for around 3 months during the summer, I earned nearly 20K quite comfortably, as I had the option to work at home for four out of five days of the week.

For short summary of what it was like to intern there, it was a great experience; I learned a lot as a system software engineer, and would highly recommend it. If any of you guys are computer science students yourself and are interested in learning more about my experience and how I got the internship in the first place, let me know in a comment, and i can create a video on how to get an internship that’s truly entry level, even despite how hard they may be able to get right now.

For my next $3,000, I earned from Fiverr, from editing people’s resumes. Since I also strugged alot with the computer science job application process, I decided to approach it as an engineer, reverse engineering how applicants get rejected through systems like the ATS. As such, I was able to apply these concepts to help other people as well, with many of my clients getting into top software engineering companies with truly entry-level positions (in other words, without years of previous experience), such as Amazon, Facebook, Nvidia, and Mastercard.

For my largest chunk of change so far, totaling $29,000, it was through my e-commerce website Airguin. For you sharp-eyed viewers out there, you may notice that this product is dropshipped, but I’m a little weary of outright saying its dropshipped, because I don’t want to be connected to those paid dropshipping classes which are basically scams. The best way to think of it is if the salesman made so much money through dropshipping, why would they need any of yours? I personally didn’t buy any courses, and I’m going to say, its a lot more difficult than people make it seem, and the largest issue is that your sales will stagnate once they hit a ceiling. However, if you need a low-cost way to make you first 10-20K, it’s not a bad option. Just don’t pay for one of those scam courses.

Now, logically, due to my success in dropshipping, Amazon FBA seemed like the next option. However, Amazon FBA blew up in my face, and I ended up losing around 4K through FBA. I have a lot of rants about Amazon FBA, but the biggest one is that it is quite expensive to start, as it costs $40 a month as a seller, but more annoyingly, it costs around $1000 if you want to post images on your Amazon listing. This is because Amazon will only let you post images in the description if you legally own a trademark, and you’ll end up spending around $1000 for lawyers and legal fees. If you guys want a more in-detail video about my mistakes with Amazon FBA, so you guys can avoid mine, again, let me know in the comments!

Man, there’s so many videos I can create, so make sure to let me know what you guys want to hear! Since my channel is pretty small right now, these vidoes will be catered to whatever you guys want.

And now for my biggest lost, it was trying to create a resume editing website, essetnailly the same as my Fiverr, but on my own website. My biggest mistake was through how I did marketing, in which I paid a marketing firm to get the word out there. I lost around 11K, as the company charged me around 3K a month, had big promises but never delivered. Other than the sunk cost of paying the ineffective marketing firm, it still generates around the same amount of revenue as my Fiverr - although if I could have a do-over, I definitely will not be making this mistake again.

Another source of income has been freelancing video and photos. I've been able to leverage my passion for photography and videography to earn money by offering services for real estate, weddings, lawyers, protests, and events. Honestly I got into videography and photography just because I enjoyed it, but I decided that to afford the camera equipment, I needed to make some money as well. Even after spending thousands of dollars in lenses, camera bodies, and lighting, I have still managed to have a net profit of $1000

And to end on a positive note, I’ve made a total of $3,000 from a variety of sources. These include selling products on eBay, Mercari, and Offerup, earning ad revenue from my Google Ads blog, my YouTube channel, and Amazon Affliate links. As you guys can see, I’m really trying anything I can out there to reach the goal, and I want to document every step of this journey, sharing both my successes and my mistakes, so that you can learn from them and do even better yourselves!

Also…I only realized this after editing, I also have made money through doing magic shows and events (the whole reason why this channel is called Tony Quill Magic), but I honestly haven’t been doing a good job tracking it…so yea I’ll be sure to track my money better later on in the series.

That’s about it for the first video in the series, so be sure to let me know what hustles I’ve mentioned that you want to learn about, or if you have any ideas of what I should do next. See you guys next Friday!

See you later, magical swans!
